At the 2026 Beijing International Auto Show, BBC reporters visited major Chinese EV factories in Beijing, Hefei, and Shanghai, revealing a historic turning point in global automotive. Once-dominant foreign brands now face sharp decline. Foreign automakers’ share in China dropped from 64% in 2020 to just 32% in 2026. German, Japanese, and American brands are under pressure, while luxury segments are shattered: Huawei’s million-dollar Maextro S800 now outsells combined Panamera and BMW 7 Series imports. Overseas executives warn of existential threats. Honda’s president and Ford CEO publicly state Western automakers cannot compete with China’s speed in manufacturing and R&D. This is driving China’s unprecedented export surge — 7 million vehicles sold abroad last year, nearly half of them new energy vehicles. Chinese automakers hold three core advantages: A complete low-cost NEV supply chain (315 industrial products globally dominant, 30% cheaper than developed countries) Ultra-automated factories (e.g., Xiaomi’s 76-second assembly line, BYD’s 5-minute fast-charging) Deep software and intelligence integration from Huawei, Xiaomi, and others Overseas firms are rapidly changing strategies. Volkswagen invested $700 million in XPeng’s autonomous driving and software; Stellantis partnered with Dongfeng for $1 billion, including importing BYD’s smart models to Europe. Toyota, Hyundai, and Ford have expanded their…

Kazakhstan’s new car market achieved a historic breakthrough in 2024, with annual sales surpassing 205,000 units to set a new all-time high for the country’s automotive sector. The overall sales volume posted steady growth year-on-year, highlighting strong resilience in the local market. Despite a slowdown in consumer purchasing activity during the middle of the year, the market staged a sharp rebound in the final months, ultimately driving annual sales to this milestone result. According to statistics from the Kazakhstan Automobile Union (KAO), authorized dealers across the country sold a total of 205,100 new cars in 2024, representing a 3.2% year-on-year increase from the 198,600 units sold in 2023. Notably, 2023 sales had already marked a record high at that time, meaning Kazakhstan’s auto market has broken its annual sales record for two consecutive years. At the start of 2024, many industry experts and institutions predicted it would be difficult to match the previous year’s performance due to market saturation concerns. These worries were further amplified as monthly sales between spring and summer fell below the same period in 2023. However, the market rebounded rapidly starting in October, with monthly sales consistently exceeding 20,000 units. December alone closed the year with…

The 6th Tehran International Auto Show, which opened its doors on January 27 for a five-day run, has become a dominant showcase for Chinese automotive brands. The event, featuring presentations from 40 companies across the auto sector, puts a spotlight on a wide array of China-made vehicles, such as the Chery-based Phoenix, BYD's Yuan Plus, Han, Song Plus, and Dolphin, as well as the MVM X77. While Japanese, Korean, and German models are also on display, the exhibition floor is largely occupied by Chinese manufacturers. The strong presence is further amplified by several global automakers that now use China as an assembly base for vehicles sold in Iran. Industry analysts point to a combination of international sanctions and the compelling cost-effectiveness of Chinese vehicles as the primary drivers behind this surge, which includes both direct imports and local assembly operations. Visitors to the exhibition can explore a diverse range of products, from imported and locally assembled passenger cars to electric and hybrid vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, and motorcycles. The event has served as a launchpad for over 30 newly imported models, generating significant visitor interest. Notable debuts include the Lamari Ecco, the MVM X77, the MG RX9 seven-seater crossover, the Hongqi…

In the eyes of most people, a car door is just a simple component used for entering and exiting the cabin and ventilation. However, it is far from that simple. It is a key part of the vehicle structure, the first barrier to safety, a reflection of design aesthetics, and a stage for the increasing innovation of automotive technology. A car door that combines the essence of mechanical engineering, materials science, electronic technology, and industrial design. 1、 Basic function: the core of safety, convenience, and comfort The most basic function of a car door is to provide convenient passenger access. But on this basis, it has been endowed with more core missions: Passive safety cornerstone: The car door is an important component of the vehicle's side structure. It usually has built-in anti-collision beams (made of high-strength steel or aluminum alloy) inside, which can effectively resist intrusion in side collisions and reserve crucial living space for passengers. The sturdy door hinge and locking mechanism ensure that the door will not easily pop open in the event of a collision, ensuring that passengers will not be thrown out of the car. Sealing and quietness: The car door is isolated from wind, rain,…

In the design of the front face of a car, there is a component that not only carries crucial engineering functions, but also defines the visual soul of the vehicle, which is the car grille. It has evolved from a simple functional opening to the most recognizable design symbol of the brand, a perfect combination of engineering and art. 1、 Core function: The "respiratory system" of the vehicle The fundamental function of a grille is functional. It is usually an opening on the front bumper, whose main task is to introduce cooling air into the engine compartment. Heat dissipation and cooling: The engine generates a large amount of heat during operation, requiring continuous air flow through the radiator to cool it down. The grille is the entrance to this' life passage ', ensuring that the engine runs at optimal temperature. Intake demand: For turbocharged models, the intercooler also requires cold air introduced by the grille to cool the compressed high-temperature intake and improve engine efficiency. In addition, it also provides external fresh air for the air conditioning system. Protective function: The mesh or grid like structure behind the grille can effectively prevent large flying stones, tree branches, and other foreign…
