Air filter – the “mask” of the engine
In modern cities, we are well aware of the importance of wearing masks for health. The same goes for the engine of a car, and the "mask" that provides protection for it is the air filter. This seemingly simple paper filter element shoulders the responsibility of inhaling clean air for the engine, directly affecting the engine's power, fuel consumption, and lifespan. Why do we need to wear masks? The working principle of an engine is to inhale air and mix it with fuel before combustion. If unfiltered air directly enters the engine, impurities such as dust, pollen, and sand particles contained in it will become "abrasives", accelerating the wear of precision components such as cylinder walls and piston rings. Long term use of dirty air filters can lead to: Decreased power and increased fuel consumption: clogged filter leads to poor air intake, making it difficult for the engine to breathe and resulting in insufficient oil and gas mixing, leading to reduced power. In order to maintain power, the ECU will inject more fuel. Abnormal wear: Fine particulate matter enters the cylinder, like feeding sand to the engine, causing early wear. Poor combustion: Dirty air filters can break the ideal air-fuel…
