Chinese Car in Turkey Automobile 2025 Market

In September 2025, Turkey’s auto market hit a new record high, with total sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles reaching 110,302 units, a year-on-year increase of 25.7% — the highest level for the same period on record.
In the first nine months of 2025, cumulative sales reached 928,000 units, up 9.2% year on year.

Market Breakdown

Passenger cars: 88,274 units, +26.8% Year-over-Year

Light commercial vehicles: 22,028 units, +21.7% Year-over-Year

From January to September 2025, total sales reached 927,647 units, including:

742,687 passenger cars, up nearly 10% Year-over-Year

Light commercial vehicles up 5.9% Year-over-Year


Powertrain Structure (Jan–Sep 2025)

Gasoline vehicles: Dominant at 46.6% (346,000 units)

Hybrids: Fast growth at 26.7% (198,000 units)

Electric vehicles: 18% (134,000 units)

Diesel vehicles: Only 7.9%

In September alone:

Hybrid sales surged 64.9% Year-over-Year

EV sales rose 33.3% Year-over-Year


Brand Performance

Top Brands (September 2025)

Renault: 11,529 units

Fiat: 10,787 units

Volkswagen, Ford, Toyota, Peugeot, Citroën, Opel, Hyundai, Nissan rounded out the top 10.

European and local brands continue to dominate the Turkish market.

Electric Vehicle Performance

Turkey’s domestic brand Togg performed strongly in the EV sector:

Newly launched Togg T10F sold 1,194 units in its first month (2nd place in EV sales)

Togg T10X: 1,061 units (3rd place)

Tesla: 1,664 units (1st place in EVs)

This highlights the rapid breakthrough of local brands in new energy vehicles.

Chinese Brand Performance in September 2025

Chinese brands maintained stable sales despite tariff adjustments:

Chery: 2,571 units (top Chinese brand)

JCOOL: 659 units

BYD: 2,585 units

Total Chinese brand sales in September: around 5,800 units.

Year-to-Date (Jan–Sep)

Chery: 22,554 units

JCOOL: 5,909 units

BYD: 34,369 units (ranked among the market’s top 10 brands)

Supported by its EV lineup and potential local production plans, BYD has strengthened its influence. However, due to recent policy and tariff adjustments, its September market share slightly declined to 2.3%.
